Europa League – Brighton
After finishing in 6th Place in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, Brighton will enter the first round of the Europa League for the first time in their history.
A promising pre-season campaign has given fans a lot of optimism going into both their European and domestic campaigns.
But losing Mac Allister to Liverpool and the potential departure of Caicedo to Chelsea could this have a huge impact on the squads capabilities. Star man Danny Welbeck isn’t getting any younger and the added pressure of European games cause havoc to their league position.
Europa League – West Ham
After a hugely disappointing league campaign last season, seeing the Hammers finishing 14th, clinching the Europa Conference League title seems to have made everyone forget about their performances domestically.
The added competition now in the Europa League will be tough for David Moyes’ side who currently look weaker than before. The departure of captain Declan Rice will prove to be irreplaceable for West Ham.
After leaking 55 goals domestically last season, it is a worry if they take the risk to focus on European football once again. Finishing just 6 points above the drop doesn’t sit well with many fans who will want ensure their team are capable and have the squad depth to be successful in both.
Europa Conference League – Aston Villa
Arguably the easier of the two competitions but I would back Aston Villa to go further in either of the competitions. Since Emery has come in, he was revolutionised Aston Villa and built a philosophy and squad to cope with anything thrown their way.
The additions of Pau Torres and Diaby look like very good additions to an ever improving squad!
I would back Aston Villa to go on and win the competition but could have an impact on their league finish.
