On paper, this game is the battle for 2nd spot in Group D with France the major favourites to top the group.
Although, Denmark may say different, after doing the double over France this year in the UEFA Nations League, winning 2-1 and 2-0 against Didier Deschamps men. Somehow, Denmark managed to lose twice to Croatia who managed to top that group ahead of Denmark and France respectively. As for the qualifying for stage for Qatar, it was a near perfect qualification for Denmark, winning 5 out of their 6 games (losing to Scotland in their final group game). Defensively, Denmark have been outstanding in their 10 group games, averaging 3.0 goals a game while conceding only 3 times in the whole of the qualifying stage. The kind of form you’d expect to see from the major favourites of the competition.
Tunisia are yet to find a win against a European side at a World Cup tournament (D3, 7L). The North African country qualified through a 1-0 victory over Mali in their 2-legged Third Stage Qualification Final. This will be the countries 6th appearance at a World Cup, claiming only 2 wins in their previous 15 on the world’s biggest stage. So, expectations will be low for the Tunisians.
I can’t see Tunisia getting on the scoresheet in this one, it’s all about how long they can stay resilient before Denmark finally make the breakthrough.
