To conclude the quarter final stage of this year’s World Cup, we have two of the (now) favourites for the tournament coming head-to-head.The tournaments highest scorers in England (12) come up against the reigning World Cup champions in France.Both sides came into this tournament with a poor run of form during the UEFA nations league, with England finishing bottom (4th) of their group scoring 4 and conceding 10 and France finishing 3rd scoring 5 and conceding 7. But after easing through the group stage and convincing pushing aside their round of 16 opponents, it’s set up to be a heavyweight clash between two nations who feel they deserve to be in the semi-finals.The key battle everyone is talking about is Kylian Mbappe up against Kyle Walker. The French forward is well on his way to claiming the golden boot award at this tournament after notching 5 goals in the competition so far. The PSG forward is a nightmare to defend against with his quick feet and blistering pace, making him almost unstoppable at times. But, if any defender was able to contain him, Kyle Walker would be top of the list.I don’t expect to see much change from the two sides that won their round of 16 tie. Midfielder Jude Bellingham will be relishing the opportunity, the 19-year-old has been one of England’s many shining stars at the tournament and will continue to impress come Saturday evening.It’s important to note that France have failed to keep a clean sheet at this tournament. Keeping out the opposition only once in their last 10 games! So, I would be very surprised if we don’t see an England goal in this one.
