The ‘Three Lions’ come into this tournament joint 4th favourites and with the success of reaching the final of Euro 2020 still on every England fan’s mind, Gareth Southgate and co will be desperate to begin their World Cup campaign with a convincing victory over Iran (who are the lowest ranked side in Group B).
Recent games doesn’t reflect a side who are capable of competing at a major competition. Without a win in their last 6, keeping only 2 clean sheets since the turn of the year, England’s attacking talent will be key to any success in this year’s tournament.
As for Iran, a respectable 1-0 victory over Uruguay and 1-1 draw against the AFCON winners Senegal in their last 5 games, shows that they may be no push over, come Monday afternoon.

Although form suggests this could be tricky encounter for England, their quality in depth will be too much for Iran. If England can score early to help settle the nerves, I feel there could be plenty to follow.
