Senegal vs Netherlands 16:00

A mouth-watering prospect on Day 2 of the World Cup, sees the two favourites in Group A clash at 4pm Monday.

Senegal come into this competition full of confidence and the current holders of the African Cup of Nations but will be missing star player Sadio Mane, who picked up an unfortunate injury in Bayern Munich’s last game before the break, ruling out Senegal’s all-time leading goal scorer (34 goals). This is a huge miss for Senegal, who have quality all over the pitch but now lack an instinctive goal scorer.

They will be coming up against a Dutch side who hold the record of playing the most World Cup finals (3) without actually lifting the trophy (1974, 1978 & 2010). Captain Virgil Van Dijk and co will want to make it fourth time lucky in Qatar. Louis Van Gaal’s side are yet to taste defeat in 2022 going on a 15-game unbeaten run, conceding one or less in 11 of those, makes any threat of a Senegal upset highly unlikely. The Dutch haven’t struggled finding the net either, scoring 33 goals in their 10 World Cup qualifiers with Memphis Depay finishing top goal scorer, contributing to 18 of those goals (12G, 6A).

I’ll be very surprised if we don’t see anything other than a Netherlands victory in this one.

Score Prediction: 0-2

Bet Prediction: Netherlands Win – 1/2
